Background History of the Society: Kamdebpur Rural Development Society (KRDS) is a well established NGO under South 24 Parganas District of West Bengal runs above two decades from its inception (1994-95) in dedication with vulnerable and thickly populated, marginalized, hard-to-reach and poorest of the poor people at the corner of grass root level. Poverty and lack of basic life support services or social amenities are very common, despite what has so far been done by the state machineries.
The society jumped stair by stair with vast development experience through its long journey which we are giving in brief mile-stones with five years periodical views to understand about the stage of achievements.
KRDS, as we see, was not built in a day. It took some three decades of toil to grow to its present stature from a very humble beginning. It goes back to early thirty years beginning at the end of the last century, when it started as a kindergarten stage; the activities were conducted for women empowerment and capacity building programs in support with local resources and administration.
